Sharks Win Game 1 Against Bristol Blues 11-0 in NECBL Playoff Opener!!
Bristol, CT – The Martha's Vineyard Sharks delivered a dominant performance in Game 1 of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) first-round playoffs, shutting out the Bristol Blues 11-0 at Muzzy Field. With stellar pitching and explosive offense, the Sharks now stand one win away from advancing to the South Division Championship.
The Sharks' pitching staff combined for a three-hit shutout, stifling the Blues' bats throughout the contest. Starter Ross Felder was masterful, tossing 7.1 innings while allowing just two hits, one walk, and striking out four to earn the win. Reliever Zach Broderick closed out the game with 1.2 scoreless innings, fanning three batters. The Blues managed only three hits total and committed three errors in the field.
Offensively, the Sharks exploded for 11 runs on 13 hits, capitalizing on eight walks drawn from Bristol pitchers. Second baseman Logan Scilley paced the attack, going 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI. Right fielder Dylan Moats contributed two hits and two RBIs, while shortstop Gio Colasante added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Center fielder Will Hampton tripled and plated two runs, and first baseman Brady Krzciok knocked in two more. The Sharks left 12 runners on base but scored efficiently, building leads in multiple innings.
The game drew an enthusiastic crowd of 1,149 fans and lasted 2 hours and 58 minutes. Umpires were Kris Engstrand (plate), Rob McHugh (first base), and Matthew Kane (second base).
"We came out focused and executed on all fronts," said Sharks manager Payton "Skip" Fuller. "Our pitchers set the tone, and the bats followed suit. Now, it's about carrying this momentum home."
The series shifts to the Shark Tank for Game 2 tonight at 7:05 PM. With a win, the Sharks would clinch the series and advance to face the winner of the Newport Gulls vs. Mystic Schooners in the South Division Championship.
