Ryan Brockett (St. Mary’s College (CA)) was flat out dominant in his only outing this past week for the Sharks. The left-hander went 8.0 innings and struck out ten while giving up no hits, runs, or walks. Brocket was perfect through eight innings and was only taken out due to the new pitching guidelines the FCBL has instituted to prevent overuse and injuries from occurring. This was Brockett’s second outstanding outing on the season, with the previous one coming on June 26th against the North Shore Navigators in which he struck out ten in 7.2 innings. Brockett’s perfect outing lowered his ERA to 1.46. He is now 1-0 with 27 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched on the season.
As a sophomore this past spring Brockett made a career-best 19 appearances all coming out of the bullpen for the Gaels. He finished the year with a 1-1 record and a 2.50 ERA and in 36.0 innings pitched he allowed 41 hits, 10 earned runs, with 15 walks and 35 strike outs.
