The Shark Tank
The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (MV Sharks), a summer collegiate baseball team, play their home games at the Shark Tank (formerly called Vineyard Baseball Park) located on Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School's (see aerial shot below) campus in Oak Bluffs off of Vineyard Haven-Edgartown Road in the middle of the Island. (.)
The field features a berm on the first base side for chairs and blankets; there are 282 stadium-style seats behind home plate between the two dugouts and a moderate amount of space for lawn chairs on the third base side. The outfield hill allows for picnic tables for "group outings," chairs and blankets plus you can stand directly behind the outfield fence, which does not obstruct the views from the hill. Refreshment stands are located directly behind home plate. The food is excellent and is reasonably priced.
There is plenty of parking at the MV Regional High School. Cars can park near the outfield but this is limited. There is an abundance of parking across from the outfield in the school’s parking lot. There is also additional parking in front of the school and on the other side of the school. There is only one road in and out, and it's a heavily trafficked road during the summer months.
There is a Kids Zone on the third base side of the field. There is plenty of room for kids to run around and chase foul balls on either side of the diamond.
The family can be feed at a reasonable price as there is freshly grilled frankfurters, sausages and burgers as well as drinks.
There will be entertainment before and after each game and between innings of each game.
Game times will "generally" be at 6:45 PM starting in 2013 to allow working parents to get back home and pick up the kids and for those on vacation to enjoy a day at the beach before coming to the ball field.
Postponements due to weather conditions will be posted on the website, recorded on our general number and posted outside the school before and if poor weather occurs during the game.
